We are happy to announce Cider Fest 2014, happening at Mattie B's Public House on April 19, 2014. The event will begin at 12pm and last until 12am. The first of the two sessions, from 12pm to 3pm, is set up for the true lovers of cider. We will be pouring 2 oz. tastings of cider from at least 7 local cider makers - Black Mountain Ciderworks, Bull City Ciderworks, Fishing Creek Cider, Foggy Ridge Cider, McRitchie Ciderworks, Noble Cider, and Sourwood Brewery - as well as ciders from all over the world. The cider will be paired with small bites from amazing chefs from Bar Lusconi, G2B, Mattie B’s, Pizzeria Toro, Primal, Q Shack, Six Plates, and Toast. All food and drink is included in the ticket price of $50. The proceeds of the session will go to Apple Growers of NC to help the growers in our great state to continue to grow this fabulous fruit. The production of hard cider is an opportunity for NC and the Southeast to reinvest in our bountiful agriculture. Prior to prohibition, in fact, cider was the most widely consumed alcoholic beverage in the US. With so many different options, like dry and champagne-style ciders, it is time that folks get an opportunity to reacquaint themselves with this celebrated beverage.
The second session from 3pm until at least 12am will be free admission. We are hoping for dry weather for great music as well as lots of different ciders on tap.
