TxakoliFest is to Six Plates what St. Patrick’s Day is to ye olde Irish Pub, Oktoberfest is to Germany, and the Superbowl is to the NFL. It is hands down the biggest day of the year for our crew, our regulars, and all the bottles of Txakoli we can get our hands on.
You may choose to be a part of our fundraiser for Urban Ministries of Durham or the general admission session. Urban Ministries of Durham’s mission is to meet emergency needs for food, clothing, and shelter; and to help those who are homeless secure a home and the resources to stay there. We are very excited to be partnering with them this year. We’ll be selling 150 tickets for $75 in advance for entry into the fundraiser portion of the festival from 12-3pm. There is a possibility of another 50 tickets being available the week of the event due to weather and space constraints. Involved in this fundraiser will be the food and tasting portions of TxakoliFest, as well as entertainment, with all of the proceeds going to Urban Ministries of Durham. Six Plates’ John Eisensmith will be joined by Matt Kelly of Bar Mateo and Vin Rouge, Amy Tournquist of Watts Grocery, and more to be announced. There will be 12different txakolis to taste by the glass, and a souvenir glass for you to take home. We will have live music from Andrew Kasab to entertain you while you enjoy your philanthropy and yummies. For more info got to www.txakolifest.com!
